Introduction

    The University of the Valley of Cuernavaca, known as UNIVAC, was founded in 1995. In just fifteen years it has become the largest and one of the most prestigious private universities in the states of Morelos. The motto of Univac is "Excellence, Leadership, and Humanism", and it is reflected in its outstanding faculty, excellent classes, and its commitment to every student. Fully accredited by the "Dirección General de Profecciones" (D.G.P.) and the "Secretaría de Educación del Estado de Morelos (S.E.E.M.)", UNIVAC offers degrees in Business Administration, Law, Computer Science, Accounting, Education, Industrial Relations, and Journalism.

Cuernavaca

    Cuernavaca known as the "City of Eternal Spring" due to its delightful years round climate, is the capital of the state of Morelos. It is situated at about five thousand feet above sea-level which results in day-time temperatures between 75 and 85 degrees as well as pleasant cool nights. The rainy season is approximately from May to October when it normally rains in the late afternoon or at night.

    Cuernavaca is located about one and a half hours south of Mexico City which means that students can take advantage of all that the city offers while not being exposed to the disadvantages of a big city. Acapulco is between 3 or 4 hours away and there are many interesting places to visit within or close to Cuernavaca. Cuernavaca has been the weekend or vacation destination of people from México City residents. Because of this, the city offers many five star gourmet restaurants, bars, dance club, hotels and interesting stores. The Center will provide information on any place its students may wish to visit.

Univac Language Center

    The Language Center is located in a lovely, spacious colonial home with beautiful gardens, a pool, a computer center, and cafeteria. New classes begin every Monday throughout the year. Our students come from all over the world, range in age from 4 to 84, and from many different backgrounds: students, teachers, lawyers, business people, social workers, clergy and people planning to retire or travel in Latin America.

    There are never more than five students in a class, and classes meet six hours a day, Monday through Friday. In addition to these classes, a variety of extra optional activities are also offered in the afternoon such as the opportunity to volunteer at a government-run orphanage, cooking, craft or salsa dancing classes, films and many conversations opportunities with the university students.

    Students at the Language Center may also enroll in classes at UNIVAC, attend special events at the university, as well as enjoy its facilities such as a swimming pool, tennis court, cafeteria, and a private gym that offers special rates to students. An important feature of The Center is its Mexican brother or sister program. Students will have a designated person from the university or its secondary school as their Mexican brother or sister. Many special activities are offered to people in this program, and it is an opportunity to establish new friendship.
